ERP Gains & Advantages…

Innovative companies need integrated management systems properly designed to make and keep every promise it makes to its “internal” and “external” customers. But keeping those promises under the pressure of constantly changing requirements demands that you have innovative people empowered to resolve those daily challenges. Tools without philosophy however fall short when attempting to manage the ongoing logistics required to keep each and every promise.

Enterprise Requirements Planning, ERP, is a system of planning that includes a well-developed philosophy for making and keeping promises. Unfortunately ERP and MRPII have often been implemented as a software product instead of a company-wide philosophy. The gains and advantages of ERP are found in the integrity of the management systems used to provide direction and re-direction within the organization. What most people overlook is the fact that as a philosophy of relationship, ERP provides a framework from which individuals can focus on work that is real, work that is possible, work that is necessary to correctly manage day-to-day work assignments that matter.

Wasted action is thought to be the province of Continual Improvement philosophies like BPR, Business Process Reengineering, TQM, Total Quality Management, or The Six Sigma Way. But when the action that is wasted is due to a schedule that is not valid to build product that is short of parts or resources for markets that are incorrectly served, innovation suffers greatly.

ERP is not the end-all, be-all of strategies. But it can provide the cornerstone of communication and organizational integrity that is needed to inspire people to bring more of who they are to the work. Without organizational integrity it is tough to involve people in what matters to the company’s future. When personal gain is achieved at the expense of integrity, systems tend to fall apart. If you want people in your company to bring their whole selves, their innovation and co-operation to their work-relationships, organizational integrity is a must. ERP and MRPII philosophy provide the framework that can bring opportunity to life in both small and large organizations.

At MCTS, our specialty, in addition to ERP implementation support, includes methods and techniques for changing ingrained beliefs and perceptions that drive the collective habits and individual habits of your employees. Changing how each employee feels and functions in support of your implementation or re-implementation of ERP MRPII is about encouraging and developing the integrity of the individual. ESM, Employee Self-Management provides a systematic way for every employee in your company to change and improve their work-habits. By establishing and demonstrating integrity, and rewarding truthfulness throughout your entire organization it is easy to introduce a dramatic cultural shift in the focus and performance of your organization—and it is the only way to become a profitable business that will endure and adapt to the changing demands of your markets.
